Of course, the nasty cold has me wiped out so now I'm stuck on the couch tonight watching Julie and Julia, which is one of the best and one of the worst movies I've ever seen. All of the scenes with Meryl Streep as Julia Child are fantastic, while the scenes of Amy Adams as Julie Powell are downright dreadful. There is a woman who can't act. I honestly can't believe this woman gets the honor of starring as Janis Joplin in Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can. I can only imagine how dreadful that movie is going to be.
I'm sure the actual Julie Powell is a pretty interesting person, seeing that she wrote an entire blog on cooking all 524 recipes in Julia Child's cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, in 365 days. She wrote about all of her adventures and misadventures on her blog, The Julie/Julia Project. The blog is actually interesting, though a little narcissistic. There is actually a button on the side of her blog where you can make donations to her. I kid you not. I guess that's how she was able to afford all those expensive ingredients for her French cuisines.
The blog got recognition, which inevitably meant that Julie Powell had to write a couple of books about her experience of cooking all 524 recipes. My fingers are crossed that a book publisher will eventually discover my blog and give me lots and lots of money so that I can write a 32 chapter book entitled Wayne and the Emaciated Liverwurst Sandwich. I could even make the book illustrated with my own personal stick figures.
Obviously, someone decided to read Julia Powell's book, Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen (the book was later retitled as Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously) and the book was produced into a movie. Before I continue about the movie, I would just like to point out more narcissism from the almighty blog writer. The titles of her books make her seem as if someone handcuffed her in the kitchen and forced her to cook all 524 recipes. She did choose to take on this task, therefore, she doesn't really have much room to complain about the tiny kitchen she had.
While I was sitting here watching this mindless entertainment, I came across a blog that was even more interesting. The Lawrence/Julie and Julia Project is a blog about a man (presumably named Lawrence), who has decided to watch Julie & Julia everyday for the next 365 days. The blog was started quite recently, with yesterday being Day 9 (as of my posting, there was still no posting for today, perhaps young Lawrence has decided to throw in the towel after a mere nine days).
Of course, all this has me thinking that perhaps I should start a blog on following Lawrence watching a dreadful movie everyday for the next 365 days. What's even more mesmerizing is the fact that Lawrence has 192 followers after only nine days of killing brain cells. I've had my blog going for several months and I think I have roughly 20 followers. Perhaps I really should start a blog following one specific thing for the next 365 days.
